Joseph,
I just wanted to say thank you for your kind words. I was blown away when you said something to the effect "I think I'm his biggest fan" or something.
It was an honor to get to meet you in Nashville and I look forward to building on that relationship moving forward and seeing you at other new media events in the future.
Loving Your Podcast!
Cliff

Joseph,
I am in the middle of episode 106 and have stopped it to make a comment regarding your experiment to expand your network 10 fold. I cannot speak for the others listening to your podcast, but I can say I have recommended your podcast to dozens and dozens of people. Some of which, are marketing professionals, but most of them are not marketing people. I do not know if any of them have checked out your poscast, but I guess the point I am trying to make here is that your delivery of content on your podcast creates its own buzz. I listen to 6 to 10 marketing podcasts on a regular basis and I can confortably say that your delivery and ideas and points of view generate and spawn other conversations. Your podcast is by far, my favourite one. My second choice is For Immediate Release. To answer your question regarding the payment of a cut down version of your podcast, to be blunt, I wouldn't pay for it. In fact, I would be less likely to listen to it if it was "over produced". The raw nature and length of your podcast is part of its attraction to me. In fact, you could put out 3 hours of podcasting per week and I would still be looking for more Joseph Jaffee audio content. I am a huge fan and have been a solid listener since Feb 2006. I have read Life After The 30 Second Spot, I am right now reading Join The Conversation and am one of the 150 people involved in the UNM2PNM experiment. As far as being a listener who is giving back to the community, I feel that by involving myself in the experiment is a good first start as I have too long been in Lurker Mode. During this process, I have decided to also conduct my own experiment, which I have sent a small audio comment to you on. You will notice that my post is from my Second Life Avatar Geoff Radek and that I am not using my real name. Although I will be as transparent as possible in my upcoming new Blog launch on my web site http://www.netcohesion.com, my intentions are to for the time being, keep my real identity hidden from the public. My question to the Joseph Jaffee community is, can a blogger or podcaster be successful if they are not branding themselves, but a likeness of themselves? (ie. my Second Life Avatar)

Joseph, I'm a new listener to the podcast and I must say I love that you do not "shorten" the conversation and allow it to breathe. Much like a dinner party, when guests, in their own unique fashion decide it's time to leave and get back to the house because they're paying the babysitter 3 times what it should cost. You, however, allow your conversations to end in due time. I love that.
Also, as a new listener, your interview with Cliff was about as honest as you can get. Passionate podcasters united in realtime. Nothing says humbleness like a big hug. Unmistakenably Jaffe.
On your point of paying a fee. I see most everyone, including big C's, doing precisely that in order to boost the bottomline. The problem is when those metric-bastardizers want to start using premiums paid equals messages received. Not good methodology and content creation will suffer. If that happens, content will become secondary to distribution quantity. Not to say you shouldn't be compensated but to intelligirl's point, prove to me why I should buy. I think a better approach and a paradigm shifter is engaging the consumer with an experience, making it (the experience model) attractive to the sponsor who in turn must find a way to join in the experience. Some have done quite well, while others, especially the big "Cs", are floundering. A few thoughts from a podcasting puppy nimbling at the steak.

Joseph,
Really enjoyed this episode especially the whole conversation with Cliff Ravenscraft! I'm going to attempt to succeed in your "experiment". Wish me luck!

Joseph:
Just listened to show 106, and have to comment about your lack of attention to what MommyCast has done with sponsors, audience and integration of both :) At MommyCast we've just gone through our 3rd renewal with the Dixie paper products company...BTW, Dixie is a Fortune 100 company and they have found great value in the sponsorship of MommyCast and our ability to reach new media moms with the Dixie message. Additionally, we have had (and still have) a number of other sponsors: Pampers, Disney, Clorox, Hologic, VTech... We think this more than proves the concept and, as moms, we're very proud of what we've done and accomplished. I'd be happy to talk to you about this some time on your show. In the meantime, please don't ignore Moms!
