Saw an ad online for the DVD release of "The Incredibles"and as you'll see there is a telephone vibrating (reminds of the gold treasure chest of Lester Wunderman yore). When you mouse over the telephone, a panel appears with a telephone number and a message, "call for your secret mission."
I called...and ala the scene from the movie, this time I was Mr Incredible and received my orders...
I was to go to www.theincredibles.com (are you catching on yet???) and enter my password (sorry to be the spoiler, but it's the telephone number...don't tell your kids)
The telephone number unlocks various benefits such as a limited edition poster, deleted scenes from the movie, a sweepstakes entry, wallpaper and more.
Really brilliant tactic to get prospects to the destination website...over and above the standard call to action and/or "click now" button. It's on strategy AND I think gives a glimpse of what's to come in an age where getting any consumer to act in any way is pretty much a miracle.
