Thanks Aimee for giving me a heads up. This week's Adweek poll is as follows:
Which of the following new books has the best chance of becoming the next "Confessions of an Advertising Man" by David Ogilvy.
The choices (with current voting as of 7.45am EST on Saturday) are as follows:
- "Often Wrong, Never in Doubt" by Donny Deutsch - 6%
- "Disruption" by Jean-Marie Dru - 6%
- "Then we set his hair on fire" by Phil Dusenberry - 14%
- "Purple Cow" by Seth Godin - 4%
- "Life after the 30-second spot" by Joseph Jaffe - 20%
- "Lovemarks" by Kevin Roberts - 3%
- None of the above - 47%
Number of resposnes = 1469
I am genuinely humbled to be compared to David Ogilvy who I must have quoted 20 times in my presentation on fixing the agency mess yesterday. As for the company I am keeping...yes, it's an honor just being nominated with a group of folk old enough to be my father or grandfather (sorry Seth)
While I won't ask you to Gawker this poll, I will encourage you to get out and vote with your heart. I'm sure Donny, JMD, Fiery Phil, Godester and Kev are doing the same on their blogs :)
In my opinion, nothing comes close to Ogilvy's Confessions, but I do feel strongly about putting my book against the others, although I'm not ready to write my memoirs and the greatest hits album has not yet been cut! Happy Voting.
PS Strange how this poll has not been closed yet...it's almost as if they're extending it in the hope that the results will be somehow different...only thing is that the longer it stays open, the more votes LA30 seems to be getting :)
