Busy watching the People's Choice Awards (legendary speech from Ray Romano and weird, but original one from Matthew McConaughey)
The voting at home was sweet. predictable and sweet.
The red carpet branded special awards (think congeniality, smile and personality, but sponsored by Olay, Crest and some hair product which I've already forgotten), which had sponsor logos, contrived lead-ins, "the fine folks at Olay...etc." and 10-second mini ad between nominees and winners was downright ugly.
I recognize the networks are feverishly searching for life after the 30-second spot, but surely there's a better way...
Update: Just saw a clip on CNN Headline News talking about The People's Choice Awards and saw the caption, "footage courtesy of CBS/Procter & Gamble" - interesting, that P&G co-owns the footage. Probably not that surprising when I go back and think about the click vignettes which - surprise, surprise - are all P&G products.
