I wasn't particularly concerned about missing the AAAA's media conference this year. However, after reading about P&G's Global CMO, Jim Stengel's address, I'm regretting that decision.
As usual, Stengel hit it out the park with his keynote, which was all about conversational marketing (PS Still 3 days left to take the survey)
He told the crowd of number crunchers "it's not about telling and selling", emphasizing the need for dialogue and relationship.
He didn't stop there...introducing the concept of "generous brands" - brands that are trustworthy and authentic i.e. give something back and make a difference.
Music to my ears.
He did this all without walking away from data and accountability: "market share is trust materialized".
Invitation To Jim Stengel: Jim, it was a pleasure meeting you last year and having the pleasure of presenting to you. As you will recall, I told you that I'd write my book on the subject of your choice on condition that you wrote the foreword of the book. I believe I have done just that with "Join the Conversation: How to engage marketing-weary consumers with the power of community, dialogue and partnership."
So I'm calling in the offer now and asking if you would agree to pen the foreword of the book. I think it's a perfect match! Please contact me and let's discuss further.
Note: Just in case Jim is not reading Jaffe Juice, please foreward this to him with my e-mail address: jaffe [at] crayonville [dot] com
